I hear people talk often about taking an annual trip with friends. In fact, I have also traveled with the same group of friends several times. It’s a great way to explore different parts of the world, and let’s face it, traveling with a group can be a lot of fun. There is a time for a romantic couples getaway, but it is also so much fun to go with friends that you know you are going to have a good time with. The laughter, the sharing, and even sometimes the drama (haha, can make traveling a little more interesting). I am used to shooting couples shoots when people are traveling with their significant other, but it’s still less common for me to photograph groups of friends. I hope the trend of photographing friends while on vacation is on the rise, because it’s an absolute pleasure to take group photos. In just a short time you learn about the dynamics of an entire group of people, you can to share a fun memory making experience with them.
I recently did a photoshoot in Nice, France with a group of friends. It was a LOT of fun. Laura emailed me because her husband was celebrating a landmark birthday and they were also celebrating their anniversary. On top of that they were traveling with two other couples. One of the couples had already celebrated their honeymoon in Nice France.
In any case, the mood was definitely a celebration. We met in the morning for perfect light. See my blog post about perfect light HERE.
The photoshoot started with a couples shoot with our master organizers celebrating their anniversary. When couples are celebrating milestones like this I always love to ask them what the secret to their success is. One thing that I often notice is that couples that have been together for a long time tend to laugh a lot during our photoshoot. Maybe humor and laughter are the secret ingredients to a long relationship. For sure these ingredients make for a great photoshoot, as you can see in the following photos.
About halfway through our shoot two more couples joined us. It didn’t to take long to figure out who the entertainer in the group was. See if can see in the photos.
In group shots, it’s of course to take some posed photos to make sure everyone looks good and they have their eyes open, but after getting those posed shots, I just love to capture the group interacting, walking and laughing. The group had the great idea to spice up the photoshoot by adding a little champagne to the mix. I mean, champagne added to anything is a major plus. The shots at the end while opening up the champagne are BY FAR my favorites.
Cheers and enjoy the photos!
