French Riviera Photography - Routes

About Routes

These routes make it easy for you to capture what you want on your next trip to the French Riviera (sorry, I haven't created routes for Paris yet). Do you like romantic strolls along the beach? What about glamorous luxury lifestyle? Or perhaps you prefer authentic cobbled stoned streets. There is something for everyone here on the French Riviera and these routes are broken down by their vibe with a short description. I have shot at all of these locations so I know their special secret spots to capture the perfect pictures.

It is possible to create custom routes at private venues. I often shoot in rented villas, yachts, hotels, restaurants, etc. For hotels/restaurants I require written permission from a member of management. People are often surprised that France follows very strict formal protocol in respect to where photos are taken. The French Riviera and Paris have so many beautiful public locations to shoot at it's normally not a problem, however it's the clients responsibility to attain permission in the case that they want to take photos at a private venue. Normally hotels are very accommodating if you are staying on the property. Gourmet restaurants are typically not accommodating as chefs in high-end restaurants tend to take themselves very very seriously (twirls the end of moustache). Keep in mind that I specialize in natural light settings, cramped venues with bad lighting is not my thing.

Sometimes clients have specific requests that I don't recommend. For example the casino in Monaco is not only illegal to take professional photos in front of but it's also a tiny spot filled to the brim with tourist and (at the moment) construction. I avoid it at all costs.

Please note: Just because you choose a photoshoot route does not mean that you are going to get 100 percent the same thing that I have already shot there. The pictures will vary based off of time of day, time of year, the lighting, the flora and fauna that is in bloom at the time. Leave some room for magic and mystery. Photography isn't a product just bought off the shelf. Live dangerously my friends.

Photoshoot: Nice Flower Market, Promenade des Anglais, Colline du Chateau

THE VIBE: authentic, fun, colorful, seaside, mediterranean

DESCRIPTION: This route starts in the flower market of Nice: a bustling, busy, colorful center of life. From the flower market we head towards the seaside to get a colorful backsplash of azur blue sea on the Promenades des Anglais. The perfect ending to this fun shoot is the setting sun on top of the Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill), where you can get an iconic view of Nice from high up.

Photoshoot: Nice Promenade

THE VIBE: luxury, seaside, mediterranean, urban

DESCRIPTION: This route takes advantage of the sea and the city. The Promenade des Angalis boasts some beautiful architecture such as the Negresco, palm trees, and of course the beach of Nice. This route is great at sunrise or sunset before the throngs of tourist descend on this beautiful strip of land. I would recommend this location for big groups, or just a solo traveler that likes urban adventure.
